Assessments, Psychotherapy, and Consultation
Psychotherapy
My psychotherapy services focuses on adults who are suffering from anxiety, those who have ADHD, and who are on the Autism Spectrum, including Asperger's Syndrome. Most of my clients are professionally successful and are in the STEM fields, and may be considered "neuro-atypical." I primarily utilized Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, at times, integrating elements of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) as well as aspects of Behavioral Decision Making and Social Cognition theories.
Assessments and Testing
I offer psychological and neuro-psychological assessments to children (6 years old and over), adolescents, and adults in the areas of
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
Autism Spectrum Disorder (including Asperger's Syndrome)
Learning Disorders (Psycho-Educational Assessment)
Because these diagnoses are complex, the assessment is comprehensive and usually scheduled over several sessions of 2-3 hours each. Therefore, those considering testing should be motivated. The process consist of the following.
The Initial Evaluation - this interview includes a mental status examination and obtains information regarding the reason for referral, symptoms, history of symptoms and treatment, and who these symptoms cause impairment. The Initial Evaluation takes up to 90 minutes.
Testing sessions - From the initial assessment, tests are chose to administer. Each session usually last 2-3 hours and may take place in office and/or via telehealth (depending on Covid vaccination status)
Interpretation of Report - a draft of the report will be sent at least three weeks after all the test information is collected and an appointment will be made to interpret and discuss the results and recommendations. Based on this meeting, the report will be finalized.
Currently, scheduling may be slow and the turnaround time has been delayed past three weeks because of the mental health crisis caused by Covid.
About me
I received my clinical training at Columbia University in New York and performed by clinical internship, an APA accredited site in San Francisco. My PhD in Social Cognition and Decision Making from the University of Chicago enhances my clinical work with people on the spectrum focusing on how people perceive, understand, and behave in social situations. My Master in Education from Harvard University helps to provide a life span perspective and informs my clinical assessment work with children, adolescents and adults who are experiencing academic or work problems associated with a clinical psychological diagnosis. Completion of the Professional Program in Neuro-psychological Assessment at UC Berkeley enhances my understanding of diagnostic testing of neuro-atypical individuals. I have worked as a clinical psychologist, clinical supervisor, and Director of Clinical Services previously at clinics in California.
Because of Covid, I am presently conducting psychotherapy services primarily via telehealth
Thank you for visiting my website. I have been a clinical psychologist for over 20 years, having worked as Psychologist or Consultant for over 8 years with Regional Centers, gaining extensive knowledge and experience with neuro-atypical individuals. I presently treat individuals with anxiety disorders and ADHD as well as individuals on the Autism Spectrum, most of whom are well functioning and successful in the STEM fields. I am currently working on a book aimed at helping high functioning adults on the Spectrum improve social cognition and make more optimal life decisions.
Although my current psychotherapy focuses on adults, I conduct psychological/neuro-psycholocal assessments and testing with children, adolescents, and adults, typically in the areas of Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, and Learning Disorders.
